After leaving Newport Beach, Jason and I drove to San Diego and went directly to the U.S.S. Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum. It was much cooler than I expected! My favorite part was seeing the living quarters below deck. Jason’s favorite part was seeing the helicopters & airplanes above deck. And the view off the back of the ship wasn’t bad!
Next we headed to the San Diego Zoo. It has been a lifetime dream of mine to visit this world-renowned zoo!

While we were watching the elephants, a very loud kerfuffle broke out between three of them. It was LOUD. It was obvious that they weren’t happy with each other! One of the trainers came out and explained that one of the elephants was new and this was the first time s/he had been introduced to one of the other elephants. The newer elephant was trying to assert dominance over the other elephant. The third elephant was the leader of the pack and got involved to show her support for the older elephant. It was really fascinating to watch!

Looks like you’ve gotten the hang of the new camera–nice job! I especially like the human/gorilla matching facial expressions.
